The contributions of Archimedes

A few weeks ago I was browsing a couple of maths books – The Math Book by Clifford A. Pickoveas and The Joy of X by Steven Strogatz – as everyone does from time to time, and I kept coming across Archimedes’ name in connection with various concepts, discoveries, and inventions.
